Basketball Recap: Ankeny Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Ankeny was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Waukee Warriors. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Hawks came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Warriors are ranked 74th).

Ankeny's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3. As for Waukee, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Ankeny is taking a road trip to take on Southeast Polk at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Waukee, they will be home for the holidays to greet Northwest on Tuesday. Waukee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Northwest likes a good challenge.
