Football Recap: Celina Beats West Plains for Their 15th Straight Victory

With a playoff win on the line, Celina rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the West Plains Wolves by a score of 43-36. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Wolves are ranked 73rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the defeat, West Plains had strong showings from SLADE RUSSELL, who rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns, and REID MACON, who threw for 267 yards and two touchdowns. RUSSELL has become a key player for West Plains: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise. A healthy portion of MACON's aerial production (81 yards to be exact) went to KADEN HOOKER, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

The victory keeps them at an undefeated 15-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for West Plains, the loss snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 11-4 record.

Celina will take on Kilgore in a holiday battle at at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Kilgore will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Celina surely won't give up without a fight. West Plains does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
