Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Triumphs

St. Joseph won the last time they faced Pleasantville and things went their way on Monday too. The Wildcats walked away with a 10-7 win over the Greyhounds.

Jack Cassidy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. St. Joseph is undefeated when Cassidy posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matt Thompson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Liam Hurley, who went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

St. Joseph's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Pleasantville, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-9 record.

St. Joseph will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Greyhounds: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
