Preview: Wingfield Falcons vs. Lanier Bulldogs
After three games on the road, Wingfield is heading back home. They will take on the Lanier Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Wingfield suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Raymond on the road and fell 71-41. Wingfield has not had much luck with Raymond recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
The losing side was boosted by Peyton Sampson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Arrington, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lanier's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Raymond, falling 75-36. While losing is never fun, Lanier can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Raymond is ranked fourth).
Wingfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Lanier, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.
