Baseball Recap: Edison's Winning Streak Snapped at 12 Games

Edison dropped their record down to 20-2 on Thursday, which also ended the team's 12-game streak of wins. They fell 8-3 to the Perkins Pirates. The Chargers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pirates earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

As for Perkins, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

For Perkins' part, Braxden Martin made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Martin has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dylan Crabtree and Blake Parker did most of the damage at the plate: Crabtree got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run, while Parker got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Parker is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edison will head out to face off against Galion at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Chargers 2.5, the Tigers 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Perkins, they are taking a road trip to challenge Clay at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
