Basketball Recap: Evan Moreno's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Robinson over La Vega

Robinson lost against La Vega back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Robinson Rockets fell to the La Vega Pirates 47-43. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 987th, while the Pirates are ranked 168th).

Robinson lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Evan Moreno, who went 6 for 12 en route to 14 points and three steals. Moreno has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Oren Woodard, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Robinson has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. As for La Vega, their win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Robinson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 60-52 victory against Gatesville on the 14th. As for La Vega, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-32 win against Connally on the 14th.
