Baseball Recap: Hersey Beats Lake Zurich for Their Fifth Straight Win

Hersey owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Lake Zurich Bears. Considering the Huskies have won three matches by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lincoln Causero and Keegan Luxem dominated on the mound. Causero didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched, while Luxem struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Luxem has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Charlie Arvanitis, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Mike Sokan was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

The victory keeps Hersey at an undefeated 6-0-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Zurich, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hersey will head out to take on Loyola Academy at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Zurich, they will venture away from home to square off against Prospect at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
