Basketball Recap: Haysville Campus Colts vs. Newton Railroaders

The Haysville Campus Colts entered their tilt with the Newton Railroaders with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Everything went Haysville Campus' way against the Railroaders on Friday as the Colts made off with a 77-52 victory. Given Haysville Campus' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Railroaders are ranked 206th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Andrell Burton, jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 45 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Kaason Thomas was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight assists and five rebounds.

Haysville Campus pushed their record up to 10-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Newton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9-1.

Coincidentally, Haysville Campus and the Railroaders will both be playing the Eagles the next time they take the court. Newton will host Maize on Tuesday, while Haysville Campus will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
