Recap: Broadneck Bruins vs. North County Knights
The Broadneck Bruins won the last time they faced the North County Knights, and things went their way on Friday too. Broadneck blew past North County 42-6 on the road. The result was nothing new for Broadneck, who have now won three contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Broadneck got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ian Mauldin out in front who rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Eli Harris was in the mix as well, providing Broadneck with two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, North County still got an impressive performance from Nate Bedell, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown. Bedell was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
The win makes it two in a row for Broadneck and bumps their season record up to 6-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 3-5 North County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 43.8% over those games). As for North County, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Broadneck will be playing at home against Crofton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Crofton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for North County, they will head out on the road to face off against South River at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (South River is ranked 111th, while North County is ranked 131st).
