Basketball Recap: Bellevue East Comes Up Short

Bellevue East extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-3. They took a blow against the Creighton Prep Junior Jays, falling 68-31. The Chieftains were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-12.

Several Chieftains players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tayjon Morton-Swift, who posted 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Aidan Amegandji was another key player, putting up five points.

As for Creighton Prep, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 30 points or more this season.

Creighton Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cooper Knight, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 15 points along with five assists and three steals. Knight is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Conner Peters also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Bellevue East has already played their next contest, an 85-53 loss against Millard West on the 16th. As for Creighton Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 78-50 victory against Millard South on the 16th.
