Softball Recap: Freedom Patriots vs. Robinson Knights
Freedom had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 7-9 to make it four. They lost 15-0 to the Robinson Knights. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2017.
As for Robinson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5. Considering they have won 11 games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
For Robinson's part, Julia Garden made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Garden has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Robinson let Madilyn 'Madi' Evans and Cheyenne Crump run wild. Evans went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Crump went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Evans has posted since back in March. Romana 'Romy' Caputo was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Coming up, Freedom will take on Tampa Bay Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season. Robinson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
