Grassfield and Western Branch faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Friday. The Grassfield Grizzlies were the clear victor by a 75-51 margin over the Western Branch Bruins. The Grizzlies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season.

Grassfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amaya Fisher led the charge by going 6-for-14 en route to 17 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Fisher has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lauren Priester, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 18 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Despite the loss, Western Branch still got an impressive performance from Suki Warden, who put up 20 points. That was a full 39.2% of Western Branch's points, marking the ninth time in a row Warden has earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Lemasters, who scored 12 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Grassfield and bumps their season record up to 15-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points over those games. As for Western Branch, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-5.

Grassfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 70-30 win against Oscar Smith on the 10th. As for Western Branch, they have also already played their next matchup, a 62-43 victory against Kecoughtan on the 8th.
