Baseball Recap: Daleville Takes a Loss

Daleville was the 11-1 winner over Muncie Burris when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Broncos lost 11-3 to the Owls on Thursday. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ayden Ramirez put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Ramirez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Noah Colvin was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Daleville's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Aikin, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Daleville now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Muncie Burris, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.

Coming up, Daleville will take on Southern Wells at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Muncie Burris, they will challenge Elwood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Owls are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
