Softball Game Preview: Williamstown Demons vs. Holmes Bulldogs

The Williamstown Demons will take on the Holmes Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Holmes took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Williamstown, who comes in off a win.

Holmes will be up against a hot Williamstown team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Demons were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over Newport on Wednesday. Considering the Demons have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Karaline Peer was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Williamstown got a massive performance out of Hailey Webb, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave Webb a new career-high. Kilynn White was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.

Williamstown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Holmes lost 15-5 to Newport Central Catholic on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Thoroughbreds recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Holmes' loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Williamstown, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5-1.

Everything went Williamstown's way against Holmes when the teams last played back in March of 2016, as Williamstown made off with a 16-5 win. Will the Demons repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
