Basketball Game Preview: Mangham Dragons vs. Franklin Parish Patriots

Mangham and Franklin Parish are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Mangham Dragons are taking a road trip to square off against the Franklin Parish Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mangham has seven straight victories, Franklin Parish has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Mangham will head into Tuesday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 36) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Delhi out 55-52. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Bears are ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Franklin Parish came up short against Ouachita Parish on Tuesday and fell 37-29.

Mangham pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Franklin Parish, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Mangham was dealt a bruising 42-12 loss at the hands of Franklin Parish when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Mangham avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
