Softball Recap: Auburndale Comes Up Short

Auburndale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lake Wales Highlanders. Even if the Bloodhounds couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Brylyn Miller led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamya Gafford, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Auburndale's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Lake Wales, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lake Wales beat Auburndale by a score of 9-4 on Tuesday.
