Basketball Recap: Shaila Ramirez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead KIPP Denver Collegiate over Lincoln

On Wednesday, the KIPP Denver Collegiate White Tigers came up short against the Lincoln Lancers and fell 49-36. The White Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

KIPP Denver Collegiate's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaila Ramirez, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Ramirez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Nicole Ricalday, who posted six points along with 12 rebounds and six blocks.

Amina Abdikadir continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lincoln, putting up 28 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. The dominant performance gave Abdikadir a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Oshalaya Davis, who had six points and six boards.

KIPP Denver Collegiate now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Lincoln, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. KIPP Denver Collegiate has already played their next contest (against DSST: Conservatory Green), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lincoln has also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against DMLK.
