Baseball Game Preview: Greer Yellow Jackets vs. Daniel Lions

The Greer Yellow Jackets will venture away from home to challenge the Daniel Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Greer has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Daniel will come in with ten straight wins.

Greer lost 9-1 to Southside Christian on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, while Daniel put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Greer. The Lions put the hurt on the Yellow Jackets with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 14 games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Daniel got a great performance from Ian McCrary as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. McCrary has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Liam Purcell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lee Turnipseed, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Daniel pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Greer, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

Greer might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Daniel in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
