It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hamden Hall Country Day had no problem doing just that on Saturday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 35-34 victory over Dexter Southfield. The win was familiar territory for Hamden Hall Country Day who now have nine in a row.
Charly Gulbin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 253 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Gulbin is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Tyler Gibson was another key contributor, picking up 67 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Hamden Hall Country Day has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.5 points per game. As for Dexter Southfield, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2.
