Softball Recap: Hawthorne Math & Science Academy Comes Up Short

Hawthorne Math & Science Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors, falling 16-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-7 last Tuesday.

Jacqueline Carreon made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Carreon is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stole at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Mia Banda was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.

Hawthorne Math & Science Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Hawthorne Math & Science Academy has already played their next match, a 22-7 defeat against Leuzinger on the 28th. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, they will face off against Hoover at 10:00 a.m. on March 8th.
