Rockingham County entered their tilt with Northeast Guilford on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the Northeast Guilford Rams 66-48. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Rams are ranked 465th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northeast Guilford's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kiyah Sherman, who posted 19 points and six boards. Anaya Pearley was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Rockingham County pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.5 points over those games. As for Northeast Guilford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.
