Football Recap: Southlake Christian Academy Skates Past South Wake with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Asheville School (Independent), SouthLake Christian Academy was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 41-6 win over the South Wake Lions. The matchup marked the Eagles' most dominant victory of the season.

SouthLake Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Gandy out in front who threw for 408 yards and five TDs while picking up 13.2 yards per attempt. Those 408 passing yards gave Gandy a new career-high. SouthLake Christian Academy's leading receiver Thomas Jenkins was Gandy's top target yet again, picking up 202 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Another reason for the win was SouthLake Christian Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Josiah Blair and Connor Williams, who each picked up one sack apiece.

SouthLake Christian Academy's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7. As for South Wake, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. SouthLake Christian Academy will head out to face off against Trinity Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Crusaders' defense has only allowed 13.1 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for South Wake, they will venture away from home to take on North Wake S at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Lions' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
