Baseball Game Preview: Keyport Raiders vs. Henry Hudson Admirals

The Keyport Raiders will square off against the Henry Hudson Admirals at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keyport has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Keyport is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against South Hunterdon on Saturday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 17-1. The contest marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Keyport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Pinto, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. Pinto is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Henry Hudson came up short against East Brunswick Vo-Tech on Saturday and fell 6-3. The Admirals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Keyport has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Henry Hudson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Keyport suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Henry Hudson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
