Basketball Recap: Leetonia Bears vs. Columbiana Clippers

The Leetonia Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They were beaten by Columbiana 69-20. Leetonia has struggled against the Clippers recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Leetonia still got an impressive performance from Cameron Roller, who scored seven points.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Leetonia struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Columbiana racked up 16 assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Columbiana to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maddox Brown, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Brown continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ian Less, who scored 15 points along with three steals.

Leetonia has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season. As for Columbiana, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leetonia will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbiana, they will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
