Basketball Recap: Saginaw Rough Riders vs. Chisholm Trail Rangers
Saginaw was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 63-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chisholm Trail Rangers. While losing is never fun, the Rough Riders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 672nd, while the Rangers are ranked 138th).

Despite the loss, Saginaw still got an impressive performance from Trystan Overman, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards. That's the most boards Overman has posted since back in November of 2024. Willie McCrary was another key player, putting up ten points along with five assists and three steals.
Even though they lost, Saginaw was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chisholm Trail only racked up six assists.
Chisholm Trail was led to victory by Jesse Mutombo and Kaden Richardson. Mutombo dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards, while Richardson went 8 of 18 on his way to 23 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Richardson has scored at least a third of Chisholm Trail's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Riley, who posted four points and three steals.
Saginaw's defeat dropped their record down to 7-17. As for Chisholm Trail, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-7.
Saginaw will head out to square off against Fossil Ridge at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Saginaw is facing Fossil Ridge at the right time seeing as Fossil Ridge is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Chisholm Trail, they will welcome Granbury at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Chisholm Trail's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Granbury has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
