Football Game Preview: Stoneman Douglas Eagles vs. Coconut Creek Cougars

The Stoneman Douglas Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Coconut Creek Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Thursday, Stoneman Douglas made easy work of Coral Springs Charter and carried off a 28-6 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Stoneman Douglas didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Shane Zoberg, Max Troy, and Jonah Lenamon picked up one apiece. Zoberg also made four total tackles, which is notable because Stoneman Douglas is 4-2 when he posts at least three total tackles, but 0-3 otherwise. Zoberg got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Coconut Creek took on Blanche Ely on Thursday. The Cougars blew past the Tigers 46-6. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 27 points or more this season.

Coconut Creek's win came from a few key players Stoneman Douglas will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Josiah Sanchious, who rushed for 41 yards and one TD, and also threw for 76 yards and one touchdown. Everett Butler was in the mix as well, providing Coconut Creek with two scores.

Coconut Creek's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Stoneman Douglas, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Stoneman Douglas took a serious blow against Coconut Creek in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 41-7. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
