Allen (Texas) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 10 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings, but was stunned by
Coppell (Texas), 27-24. Coppell was ranked No. 66 nationally and No. 10 in the Freeman Rankings for Texas coming into the week.
The Cowboys led 13-7 at halftime, but the Eagles recaptured the lead on a touchdown pass by
Colby Mahon with under a minute left in the fifth.
By the end of the third, Coppell found itself trailing by 1 point as Allen captured the lead thanks to one score in the quarter. AHS scored on a touchdown run by
Kyler Murray in the quarter.
Mahon played well for CHS in the victory. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown.
Murray made a difference for the Eagles. The sophomore quarterback ran for two touchdowns.
The loss comes after Allen defeated Hebron 42-17 last week.
Coppell (5-0) goes up against Hebron in a 5A Region I District 5 game matchup next week, while Allen (4-1) locks horns with Plano East in a 5A Region II District 10 game.
