The Daviess County Panthers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Owensboro Catholic Aces at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Daviess County will be strutting in after a victory while Owensboro Catholic will be coming in after a loss.
Daviess County put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 63-27 win over Union County on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Daviess County has posted since December 27, 2023.
Daviess County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kennedy Lane led the charge by scoring 20 points. Emme Roberts was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Owensboro Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 59-52 to Pikeville.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jenna Krampe, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Randolph, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Owensboro Catholic struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Daviess County pushed their record up to 15-5 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Owensboro Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 16-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Daviess County have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Owensboro Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Daviess County suffered a grim 78-52 defeat to Owensboro Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Daviess County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
