Softball Recap: McHenry Takes a Loss

McHenry managed to slip by Sycamore the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Warriors lost 7-0 to the Spartans on Saturday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Natalie Bender spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, McHenry saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danica McCarthy, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. McCarthy has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

McHenry has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Sycamore, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

While McHenry had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
