Football Game Preview: Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions vs. St. Brendan Sabres + How To Watch

The Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions will face off against the St. Brendan Sabres at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Immaculata-La Salle will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

Immaculata-La Salle is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Miami Springs: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Royal Lions blew the Golden Hawks out of the water with a 49-12 final score. The Royal Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 31 points or more this season.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Nate Merrell Jr. and Kennan Powel. Merrell Jr. had a great game on Friday and threw for 189 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 passes. Meanwhile, Powel was balling out in the loss, rushing for 120 yards and two scores on only 11 carries.

One reason for the win was Immaculata-La Salle's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Raul Alvarez and Phillip Jones Jr, who racked up four sacks between them. Alvarez is crushing it when it comes to sacks: he's posted at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another thorn in Miami Springs' side was Ian Destinobles, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, St. Brendan had to suffer through a 42-6 loss at the hands of NSU University. The Sabres have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Immaculata-La Salle's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for St. Brendan, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Immaculata-La Salle was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Brendan when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 14-7. Do the Royal Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sabres turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
