Softball Game Preview: Delran Bears vs. Burlington Township Falcons

Delran and Burlington Township are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Bears will face off against the Falcons at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Delran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Delran came up short against Cinnaminson and fell 7-3.

Olivia Powell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits.

On the hitting side, Delran saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gianna Spinelli, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Another was Gemma DeJoseph, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Burlington Township got their first taste of in-conference action on Monday and they started things off strong. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Northern Burlington 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since April 29, 2024.

Karisa Krawiec was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Trista Davis also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Burlington Township has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Delran, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Everything went Delran's way against Burlington Township when the teams last played back in March, as Delran made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
