Softball Recap: Gresham Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Gresham waltzed into their match on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against Nelson as they made off with a 17-8 victory. Considering the Gophers have won 14 games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ayden Gardenhire was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in April.

In other batting news, La Terra Foster-Frison was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one home run and two runs. Suntaya Riddle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Gresham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive contests.

Gresham's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Nelson, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-11.
