Softball Recap: Weslaco Gets the Win

Weslaco hadn't done well against Calallen recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Panthers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats, sneaking past 4-2. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 6-4 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2025.

The victory made it two in a row for Weslaco and bumps their season record up to 2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Calallen, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Looking ahead, Weslaco will face off against Gregory-Portland at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Calallen, they will square off against Liberty at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
