Basketball Recap: Yuma Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

Yuma won the last time they faced Cortez and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Yuma Criminals walked away with a 66-54 victory over the Cortez Colts.

Despite the loss, Cortez still got an impressive performance from Kailey Vasquez, who posted 23 points. The dominant performance gave Vasquez a new career-high in points. Gisselle Ojeda Vega was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Yuma is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games. As for Cortez, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Looking ahead, Yuma won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kofa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Yuma is facing Kofa at the right time seeing as Kofa is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Cortez does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
