Baseball Recap: Gardner-Edgerton Comes Up Short

Gardner-Edgerton was the 1-0 winner over Lawrence Free State when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Trailblazers fell 4-1 to the Firebirds on Tuesday. Trailblazers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Firebirds since on Tuesday.

Gardner-Edgerton now has a losing record of 9-10-1. As for Lawrence Free State, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Gardner-Edgerton and Lawrence Free State should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings. The Trailblazers will face off against Shawnee Mission North on Monday with a big rank advantage (29 vs. 89). Meanwhile, Lawrence Free State (ranked fourth) will meet Olathe Northwest (ranked 97th) on Thursday.
