Volleyball Game Preview: Dos Palos Broncos vs. Orcutt Academy Spartans

The Dos Palos Broncos are taking a road trip to take on the Orcutt Academy Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Dos Palos is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Coalinga just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Horned Toads, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Broncos have suffered since September 23rd.

Dos Palos took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-14, 25-20.

Despite the defeat, Dos Palos had strong showings from Lilliana Gonzales, who had 17 digs and two aces, and Hailey Portillo, who had 19 digs and 15 assists. Gonzales is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kodi Gonzales, who had 18 digs and two assists.

Meanwhile, Orcutt Academy made easy work of Pioneer Valley on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

While Orcutt Academy might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Pioneer Valley scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-20, 25-18.

Orcutt Academy now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Dos Palos, their loss dropped their record down to 13-16-1.
