Basketball Recap: Marshall County Tigers vs. Stone Memorial Panthers

It was a proper cat-fight when Marshall County duked it out with Stone Memorial on Saturday. The Marshall County Tigers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to the Stone Memorial Panthers.

Defeat or not, Marshall County got some senior leadership from Jamahl Gentry and Marcus Oneal. Gentry went 7-for-15 to rack up 21 points and five steals, while Oneal shot 73% from the field on his way to 20 points and seven assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Oneal has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aja Jones, who posted eight points.

It was another big night for Cade Capps, who went 11-for-21 en route to 34 points and six rebounds for Stone Memorial. Capps' big performance that evening made it 35 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Cordell, who shot 83% from the field on his way to 12 points.

Marshall County's loss dropped their record down to 20-8. As for Stone Memorial, they pushed their record up to 23-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Marshall County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Stone Memorial, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-55 defeat against Tullahoma on the 4th.
