Soccer Game Preview: Lick-Wilmerding vs. Pittsburg

The Lick-Wilmerding Tigers will face off against the Pittsburg Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lick-Wilmerding's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Last Wednesday, Lick-Wilmerding didn't have quite enough to beat University and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Pittsburg had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it ten on Thursday. They never let the Panthers onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by exactly two goals.

ARTURO GONZALEZ and AARON MEDINA scored both of Pittsburg's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Pittsburg's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five games. As for Lick-Wilmerding, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
