Basketball Game Preview: Dunnellon Tigers vs. Lake Weir Hurricanes

The Dunnellon Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Lake Weir Hurricanes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Dunnellon is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 57 points on Thursday, they were much more limited against Hawthorne on Friday. They took a blow against the Hornets, falling 68-29. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-15.

Meanwhile, Lake Weir came up short against Seminole on Saturday and fell 51-43.

Dunnellon will need focus on slowing down John Smith, one of several Lake Weir players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 14 points. Amar Young was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Lake Weir's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Dunnellon, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Dunnellon came up short against Lake Weir in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 54-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lake Weir's Antonio Jackson, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to six assists and six boards.
