Softball Recap: Johnson Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Johnson and East Central squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Johnson had to settle for second. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Jaguars, who until this contest were averaging 4.08 runs allowed.

Kaitlyn De La Fuente was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Tijerina, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Johnson and nudges their season record down to 28-7-1. As for East Central, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-11.

Johnson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Central, they will challenge Clear Springs on Saturday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
