Basketball Recap: High Island Comes Up Short

High Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They were outmatched by the Hull-Daisetta Bobcats and fell 60-20. The Cardinals lost against the Bobcats in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 54-35 score last time.

High Island's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ruben Hernandez, who posted ten points, and Cam'Ron Medina, who scored eight points. That was a full 40% of High Island's points, marking the 18th time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points.

High Island's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Hull-Daisetta, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.

High Island is taking a road trip to challenge Spurger at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hull-Daisetta, they will welcome Chester at 7:01 p.m. on Tuesday.
