Basketball Game Preview: Deweyville Pirates vs. Johnson Bayou Rebels

The Deweyville Pirates will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Johnson Bayou Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Deweyville saw some tournament action last Thursday. They came up short against Singer, falling 69-44. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 1467th in Texas, while the Hornets are ranked 196th in Louisiana).

Meanwhile, Johnson Bayou was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against DeQuincy, falling 78-35.

Johnson Bayou's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Deweyville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Deweyville couldn't quite finish off Johnson Bayou in their previous meeting back in November of 2018 and fell 45-42. Can Deweyville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
