Baseball Recap: May River Comes Up Short

May River was the 5-4 winner over Philip Simmons when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The May River Sharks fell just short of the Philip Simmons Iron Horses by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.

May River saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tysen Brasington, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

May River's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Philip Simmons, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. May River will venture away from home to square off against Bishop England at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. May River's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Bishop England's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Philip Simmons, they will head out to take on Academic Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
