Basketball Recap: San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy Comes Up Short

San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They fell 51-39 to the Sweetwater Mustangs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-18 back in January.

Braelyn Gaytan went supernova for Sweetwater, going 7 for 11 en route to 23 points. What's more, Gaytan also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Mallory Gibson was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-23. As for Sweetwater, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-15.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Grape Creek the next time they take the court. San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy will host Grape Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Sweetwater will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th.
