Basketball Recap: Canutillo's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Canutillo had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 55-44 victory over the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Canutillo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jovanni Ortiz led the charge by en route to 14 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Austin Bonilla, who posted 12 points along with seven assists and three steals.

Canutillo's win bumped their record up to 24-9. As for Lubbock-Cooper, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-13 record this season.

Canutillo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 73-55 defeat against Mansfield Summit on the 25th. Lubbock-Cooper does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
