Softball Game Preview: Navarro Vikings vs. Crockett Cougars

Navarro hasn't had much luck against Crockett recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Vikings will welcome the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Navarro put up the most runs they have all season on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 25-11 margin over Cedar Creek. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Vikings with their most commanding win of the season.

The team relied heavily on Mia Munguia, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, four runs, and two stolen bases. She also hit three doubles, marking her first of the season. Dulce Rivera was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Navarro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Crockett came tearing into Tuesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 11-10 W against the Bears.

Kaitlyn Vasquez was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Isabel Morales, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Crockett's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Navarro, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9.
