Soccer Game Preview: Bishop England vs. Gilbert

The Bishop England Battling Bishops will square off against the Gilbert Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Gilbert will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Bishop England extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday. Everything went the Battling Bishops' way against Beaufort as they made off with a 7-2 win. It was an even better day for Ava Delpino as she scored three goals for her team.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Gilbert had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Falcons a 6-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what Gilbert needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Gilbert has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four games. As for Bishop England, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Everything went Bishop England's way against Gilbert when the teams last played back in May of 2022, as Bishop England made off with a 9-0 victory. Do the Battling Bishops have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
