Softball Game Preview: Delavan Panthers vs. Havana Ducks

The Delavan Panthers will challenge the Havana Ducks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

11 must be Delavan's lucky number: they beat ROWVA/Williamsfield with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Panthers didn't even let the Cougars on the board, marking the Panthers' second-straight 11-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Meanwhile, while Havana put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Macomb. The Ducks blew past the Bombers 14-0. The Ducks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by ten runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Maddie Howerter, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Snowden, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Havana always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Macomb only posted an OBP of .167.

Havana has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 13-2-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Delavan, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-11.

Delavan might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Havana when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
