Basketball Recap: Eddy Hyppolite Jr. Key Part of a Team Effort in Hornets Win

There's no place like home for Haines City, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lake Gibson Braves 61-58. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Haines City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eddy Hyppolite Jr., who went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points in addition to eight assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Dequarious Marks, who went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points along with eight boards and three steals.

A'Darrion Willis and Cameron Cottingham certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Willis posted 24 points, while Cottingham scored 17 points.

Haines City now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Lake Gibson, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11.

Haines City will challenge Apopka at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lake Gibson has already played their next game (against Wesley Chapel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
