Basketball Recap: Ovilla Christian Triumphs

If Calvary Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Ovilla Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Sophie Henry. The Ovilla Christian Eagles put the hurt on the Calvary Academy Lions with a sharp 58-34 victory on Monday thanks in part to Henry, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 27 boards. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Ovilla Christian's points.

Emma Rhodes was another key player, putting up seven points. That's the most points she has posted since back in February of 2024.

Ovilla Christian's record now sits at 12-5. As for Calvary Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Ovilla Christian and Calvary Academy's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Ovilla Christian and Garland Christian Academy (who has only given up 25.71 points per game) will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Calvary Academy and Fellowship Academy (who has only given up 29.35 points per game) will meet at 5:30 p.m. on January 14th.
